Americans have an inability to argue well. Now, educators are now teaching the skill in a class called argumentitive reasoning. Deanna Kuhn of Columbia U Teacher’s College have published a study in Psychological Science which shows that dialogue is a better path ti developing argument skills than writing. As part of their new class, they have developed techniques for argument development and create lively showdowns between teams using teammates for tactical huddles. What matters is informed argument with substance from information obtained through study and discussion. The hope is that the curriculum will be used elsewhere.
