Two 30 minute black and white films shot in 3D in 1936 were found by Australian director Philippe Mora who is making a documentary on how Nazis used images to manipulate reality. The Nazi’s were decades ahead of Hollywood in creating 3D movies which were shot on 35 mm films using a prism in front of two lenses. They were made by an independent studio for the Goebbels’ propaganda ministry referred to as ‘raum film’ or space film. One is a musical set during a carnival and has the title “So Real You Can Touch It”. It features shots of bratwurzt on a barbeque close up and the other film “Six Girls Roll Into Weekend” revealing the weekend life f UFA starlets. The films will be incorporated into Mora’s upcoming documentary.
