A new startup called RECORDED FUTURE has developed a tool that distills real time info from the internet to decipher probable occurences in the future. Its search tool presents results on a timeline that reaches into the future and back to the past. The company recently received money from VC arms of Google and the CIA. What is evene more interesting is that the company is constantly evolving its index and streaming data including news articles, filings of government regulators, twitter updates and using linguistic algorithms to identify specific types of events, such as product releases, or natural disasters, it correlates probabilities. Plans for the future include the development of personalized applications for consumers. Recorded Future’s website emphasizes use of its technology by financial services through news analytics and investment extrapolations and trading; PR and brand management including crisis management; intelligence analysis for national security and defense and law enforcement and legal including litigation management. The company CEO us Christopher Ahlberg a forer Swedish Army Ranger with a PhD in computer science. What the company apparently does is to examine when and where certain events happened and then applies artificial intelligence algorthms to draw out connections between the key players. The company spots trends early and can, for example assemble dossiers on people that are comprehensive, focused and fast.
