How NUMERATE, One Machine Learning Company Designs Drugs

The company, Numerate Inc. applies algorithms ro create what it says are accurate predictions through developing ways to address key issues inherent in biological data. What this means exactly I don’t know and the company doesn’t say as it is proprietary. However, information from the patents suggest that the company has created a ranking system for figuring the highest probability of activity against a specific target disease. They then search through hundreds of millions of compounds to see which ones fit based on their ranking system and the compounds are then synthesized and the properties verified in the lab. In six months the company designed, synthesized and tested novel compounds that showed greater potency and spectrum than the market leading drug in the class for HIV treament. Still not clear about how they do this? Well, neither am I but stay tuned as I am working on this one….
