“BIOSHOCK” FILM SLATED FOR 2010 RELEASE BY UNIVERSAL

One of the most visualy interesting films slated for release in September 2010 is a film called BIOSHOCK, based on the popular videogame of the same name.
Bioshock is the story of Jack who survives a plane crash and discovers the underwater advanced city of Rapture. Set in 1960,(actually an alternative history),  Jack,  survives attacks by the mutated beings and mechanical drones that populate Rapture.  In the story, Rapture was envisioned by  Andrew Ryan, a businessman who wanted to create a state without regulations and laws (must be Republican) to escape political, economic, and religious authority. The city was built in 1946 in the deep Atlantic using geothermal power.Brilliant scientists, unencumbered by laws or morality, advance science rapidly including he creation of ADAM, stem cells from sea slugs, discovered by Dr. Bridgette Tenenbaum. These cells have the ability to regenerate damaged tissue and rewrite the human genome. They mass-produce them by implanting them in the stomachs of young girls, whom they took from orphanages created by the city’s creator.

Viewing the trailer and well developed story line, if the film lives up to the visuals in the game, I predict this will be one of the best films of next year, raising some excellent questions of morality and science in a visually interesting  and intellectually acceptable story line. There is apparently a new director on the film, which has been slow in development but now full bore in production.
